The Knights did all their hitting ÈËÑýÉ«Ç鯬” and scoring ÈËÑýÉ«Ç鯬” in the bottom of the first inning in a 4-0 opening-round victory over Parkersburg in the bottom bracket of the Class AAAA Region 4 baseball tournament.
Ethan Eaves drove in two runs for Cabell Midland. Owen Maynard and Seth Hinkle each knocked in a run for the two-time defending Class AAA state champion Knights.
Braeden Armstead got the win with six innings of three-hit shutout ball. He had three strikeouts and four walks.
Cooper Cancade took the decision for Parkersburg, working one frame. Gavin Fling threw five no-hit scoreless innings out of the bullpen, with three strikeouts and one walk.
The Knights played error-free baseball, while the Big Reds had three boots.
The Knights advanced to meet Spring Valley in Wayne County in a game scheduled for Wednesday, while the Big Reds were to host Capital in an elimination game on Wednesday.

IRONTON 7, ROCK HILL 2: The Fighting Tigers clinched the Ohio Valley Conference championship with a victory over the visiting Redmen.
Ironton (15-2, 12-1 OVC) secured the title with the win and PortsmouthÈËÑýÉ«Ç鯬™s 6-4 loss to Fairland.
Ian Ginger fanned 10 of the 12 batters he faced to earn the win. He and Brayden Baker combined for a two-hitter. Tanner Kleinman drove home two runs. Carter Bridges went 3 for 3 and Baker was 2 for 3.
WINFIELD 6, WAYNE 1: Four was the operative number in the bottom bracket of the Class AAA Region 4 tournament on Tuesday.
WinfieldÈËÑýÉ«Ç鯬™s Blake Withrow and Brody Ilderton combined to four-hit Wayne, and the Generals scored four runs in the bottom of the third inning in a defeat of the Pioneers in Winfield, West Virginia.
Ilderton, Brayson Downey and Owen Taylor each had two hits for the Generals. Ilderton homered and knocked in two runs. Downey tallied twice.
Withrow allowed one unearned run on two hits over five innings to get the win. He had seven strikeouts and one walk.
Jacob Thompson scored the lone Pioneers run.
Parker Adkins took the decision for Wayne, yielding four runs, all earned, on six hits in 2 2/3 frames. He had no walks and five punchouts.
The Pioneers were to meet Lincoln County in an elimination game scheduled for Wednesday, while the Generals await the winner of that one, needing just one win in their next two games to advance to the region finals.

MEIGS 16, RIVER VALLEY 0: Jordin Davenport drove in four runs on two hits and scored twice as the Marauders walloped the Raiders in a regular-season game in Bidwell, Ohio.
Natalie Goode slapped four hits, knocked in two runs and scored two. Shelby Yost tallied a pair of hits, RBIs and runs. Gracie Banks struck out 11 to earn the win.
Marlana Foreman smacked two hits for River Valley.
ASHLAND 10, RUSSELL 0: Riley Harmon pitched a seven-hit shutout as the host Kittens defeated the Red Devils.
Brookelyn Duckwyler went 3 for 4 with two home runs and four runs batted in. Zoey Smith hit a homer and plated two runs. Aubrey Foster knocked in two runs. Addi Laine went 2 for 3.

WAHAMA 11, GILMER COUNTY 10: Zoie Mayes singled in Elissa Hoffman with the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the White Falcons a victory over the Titans in the Class A Region 4 Section 2 final in Hartford, West Virginia.
Hoffman, the winning pitcher, doubled in Peyton Staats to tie it before scoring the winning run.
