AID, Ohio ÈËÑýÉ«Ç鯬” Brayden Hanshaw singled in the winning run in the top of the ninth inning to give South Point (10-7) a 3-2 victory over Symmes Valley (14-8) in high school baseball.
The Vikings took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Will Jones hit a sacrifice fly to score Bronx Carpenter. The Pointers went ahead 2-1 in the second as Joey Lobaldo and Ryder Pratt crossed the plate via errors.
In the bottom of the seventh, Jackson Fields scored on a single/error combination to tie it.
South Point won it when Pratt was hit by a pitch, moved to third on a base hit by Kolton Layman and scored on HanshawÈËÑýÉ«Ç鯬™s single.
Ethan Layne earned the win and Caesyn Pope collected the save. Layman went 2 for 5.
Carpenter was 3 for 5. Fields and Braden Hankins each went 2 for 4.
BOYD COUNTY 9, IRONTON 0: Dane Jones and Brogan Jones teamed up on a three-hit shutout as the Lions defeated the host Fighting Tigers.
Dane Jones earned the win. Kaleb Kelley went 2 for 4 with two RBIs. Grant Slater went 3 for 5 and Caleb Gray was 2 for 3. Josh Kelley stole four bases as Boyd County swiped eight bags in as many attempts.
SYMMES VALLEY 4, OAK HILL 2: The Vikings (15-8, 8-2 Southern Ohio Conference) scored three runs in the fifth inning to beat the host Oaks (8-5, 6-2).
Will Jones went 2 for 4 with two runs batted in for Symmes Valley. Andy Strow was 2 for 4 with an RBI. Tanner Thompson went 2 for 2. Tanner Corn was the winning pitcher.
Layne Swingle knocked in two runs for Oak Hill.
IRONTON ST. JOE 12, COAL GROVE 1: Evan Aldridge and Beckham Waginger combined on a two-hitter as the host Flyers (10-5) routed the Hornets (4-13).
Aldridge was the winner and went 3 for 3 with three RBIs. Waginger went 2 for 2 and drove in two. Carson Willis and Carter Johnson each knocked in two runners.
POINT PLEASANT 14, CHAPMANVILLE 5: The Big Blacks beat the visiting Tigers for the third time this season, this time in the Class AAA Region 4 tournament.
Trycen Putney drove in four runs on three hits. Zakk Jordan, Gavin Barnett and Talan Pearson knocked in two runs apiece. Austin Keefer smacked three hits. Barnett and Putney each swatted two. Carrsen Lambert picked up the win.
Jacob Vance and Braylon Moore each knocked in two runs for Chapmanville. Vance slapped two hits.

BOYD COUNTY 8, BATH COUNTY 2: Jaycie Goad went 3 for 4 with a home run and three RBIs to lead the Lions over the Wildcats in Owingsville, Kentucky.
Elyn Simpkins was 2 for 4 with a homer and three RBIs. Lacyn Black was 2 for 3. Jadyn Goad and Kyli Kouns both went 2 for 4. Brooke Jacobs was the winning pitcher.
WESTERN PIKE 4, GREEN 1: Megan Whitley struck out nine and went 2 for 3 with three runs scored to lift the Indians over the Bobcats in Division VII district tournament play in Latham, Ohio.
