Marshall coach Corny Jackson and some of the Herd人妖色情片檚 players agreed that the 68-66 defeat to the Golden Eagles last Saturday in Hattiesburg, Mississippi was a contest Marshall let slip away.

Putting that loss behind the Marshall and moving forward for Elon involved fixing mistakes made against the Golden Eagles, Dawson said.

人妖色情片淛ust cleaning up simple things like offensive rebounding and then just free throw block-outs and stuff because that人妖色情片檚 really what happened toward the end of the game,人妖色情片� Dawson said. 人妖色情片淲e end up getting two fouls on the free throws, and they end up getting the ball back and getting more free throw shots.人妖色情片�

The loss to Southern Miss dropped Marshall to 7-6 and 0-1 in the SBC. The next league game will be on Jan. 2 against Texas State at the Cam Henderson Center, but before the Herd can prepare for that game, it faces an Elon team that is 8-4, which includes a road win at Notre Dame.

人妖色情片淚t人妖色情片檚 not like Notre Dame played bad,人妖色情片� Jackson said of the Phoenix人妖色情片檚 84-77 win in South Bend, Indiana, on Nov. 22. 人妖色情片淣otre Dame played pretty well, and they hit some tough shots, but in the end, you know, Elon came out on top.人妖色情片�

Elon has size inside with 7-foot-4 center Matthew Van Komen, who is a graduate transfer and the Phoenix人妖色情片檚 leader in rebounds at 8.8 per game.

Marshall will also have to contend with 6-foot-11 senior forward Sam Sherry, who was named the Colonial Athletic Association人妖色情片檚 Co-Player of the Week after he scored 28 points and grabbed 14 rebounds, both career-highs, to help Elon rally from a 14-point halftime deficit to defeat North Carolina-Greensboro on Saturday.

A pair of guards, twin brothers TK and TJ Simpkins, are two of the four players who average double-digit scoring for Elon. TJ Simpkins leads the Phoenix with 18.1 points a game.

Nick Dorn, a 6-foot-7 sophomore guard, is second in scoring for Elon at 17.7 points per game and does much of his damage from 3-point range, where he has made 37 of 95 (39%) of his shots.

TK Simpkins averages 14.3 points a game and Sherry 13.5.

How much Marshall has learned from the loss to Southern Miss will be put to the test against Elon, Jackson said. The Herd must do a better job of executing down the stretch and making the small plays that can tilt the advantage of a contest its way, he said.

Nate Martin, who leads Marshall with 7.8 rebounds per game, said that since the Herd returned from its Christmas break, two points of emphasis have been working on the transition game and rebounding.

SBC play will resume for the Herd in Huntington on Jan. 2 with the first of four straight games at the Cam Henderson Center over the course of nine days. That stretch begins with Texas State, Troy (Jan. 4), James Madison (Jan. 9) and Georgia Southern (Jan. 11).
