Cindy Dearborn, director of education at the museum, said all of the camps except the reading and writing classes have sold out at this time, although many of them are next month or in August.

Dearborn said the camps expose local children to the museum for longer periods of time, providing them with multiple art experiences and reinforcing that 人妖色情片渢he museum is a community place that allows you to come and be creative, express yourself and just really have a good time.人妖色情片�

Lisa Stowers is a third grade teacher at Davis Creek Elementary, but this is her first summer teaching clay at the museum.

Throughout the camp, Stowers said she人妖色情片檚 instructing students on wheel throwing, sculpting, slab building and texture. In the first week, students worked on making leaf molds using slab, or thick, pressed slices of clay, slab flowers, cups and spun bowls on the clay wheel among other projects.

人妖色情片淚 like seeing their creativity, and I like to give them the opportunity to explore the things that they are interested in because not every student is academic. They need something that人妖色情片檚 more on the art side, and that is, I think that that人妖色情片檚 just very important for their all-around well being,人妖色情片� she said.

Stowers said working with clay also teaches students problem-solving skills, as the materials are often unpredictable. In addition, she said it teaches creativity and social skills as they work with their peers on various projects, making the camp a 人妖色情片渨ell-rounded experience.人妖色情片�

人妖色情片淚t seems like art gets put by the wayside a lot in the school systems and sometimes even by parents. I just feel like all kids need to experience some type of art that they like, whether it be painting or ceramics or quilting,人妖色情片� she said.

This is Catriona Finch人妖色情片檚 third year at clay camp, which she said she feels is more expressive than other art. Finch, who人妖色情片檚 15 and going into her sophomore year, said she also attends open studios and went to a teenager camp in the fall.

This summer, she said she人妖色情片檚 improving her skills with the clay wheel, and she wants to eventually create art as a career.

人妖色情片淚t人妖色情片檚 really fun. It gives us the opportunity to learn clay, for one, and for two, make friends and express ourselves,人妖色情片� she said of the camp. 人妖色情片淭he instructors are always amazing. The staff here is great, and there人妖色情片檚 just endless possibilities here for creative art.人妖色情片�

Incoming freshman Sarina Johnston, 14, said this is her second summer at the museum because she likes to make pottery and other art for her family. So far, she人妖色情片檚 learned how to use the right amount of water when starting the clay wheel and made a pitcher that she said she人妖色情片檚 especially proud of.

Johnston, who said she人妖色情片檚 been dreaming of being an artist since she was little, said of the camp, 人妖色情片淚 really like that it人妖色情片檚 peaceful, and you get to work on your own thing and there人妖色情片檚 not really too many rules to be followed.人妖色情片�
